Eleanor Hadley is the founder of Sensual Yoga, a unique movement practice inspired by traditional yoga, dance and exotic feminine movement. With a Bachelor’s Degree in International Community Development, and having worked for multiple NGO’s including World Vision Australia and World Vision Vanuatu, Eleanor is committed to helping others transform.

Following her study, and with a particular interest in female empowerment and the restorative power of community, Eleanor became the owner of pole dancing studio Pole Divas Prahran. Throughout her four years at the studio, Eleanor observed her students discover and develop their sense of self-confidence and body-love through feminine and sensual movement. Eleanor obtained her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in Guatemala under the guidance of Jessi Luna and Kula Collective, deepening her knowledge of the philosophy and spiritual connections that yoga offers. She is also a Reiki practitioner, Certified Crystal Healer and holds a Diploma in Aromatherapy.

Eleanor is excited to launch Sensual Yoga, the culmination of her decade of work across development, feminine movement and spiritual healing, with the aim of empowering women everywhere to deeply connect with their bodies.

Where do you live and what do you love about living there?

I’m currently living on the Mornington Peninsula and I love it for this phase of my life because it allows me so much space to work on my business without distraction. I love being surrounded by nature, being near the beach (I try to make it down to watch the sunset each evening) and the beautiful night sky.

How do you start your day?

I always start my day with a big smile and repeating some affirmations while looking at my vision board opposite my bed. I then do an Ayurvedic morning ritual followed by meditation, reading, journalling and some yoga.

What is your favourite season?

100% Summer! It’s one of my not-so-secret life goals to never experience Winter again. I love the sunshine and the beach. Though there’s something very special about the feeling of Winter sun.

What is One thing that might surprise people about you?

For someone who is already on to her second business, growing up I was adamant that I didn’t want to ever be in business. My dad obviously saw a little business brain in me the whole time and so wasn’t in the least surprised when I admitted I wanted to purchase a dance studio!  the

Femininity – This one resonates so deeply with me. I am such a lover of all things feminine and it is so comforting to draw a card that encourages the celebration of my femininity.  I take issue with societal labels and expectations placed on both men and women and this card description sums up my beliefs so perfectly in that “you are more than this body” while also encouraging us to honour the body that we’re in. It’s such a beautifully balanced card.

What is one defining moment in your life?

When I was 17 years old I travelled on my own to Guatemala to work in an orphanage for almost a month. I had a deep inner knowing that I needed to do this to ‘test’ myself for the career I was hoping to move in to and what I wanted to study at Uni. This trip ended up being hugely influential and I ended up back in Guatemala four more times, most recently to get my 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate. I call Guatemala my ‘spiritual’ home and have learnt so much about myself by spending time there.

What is sacred to you?

Movement. When I move with intention and connect in deeply with my body and my breath – this is when I feel the most divine. To me, sensual movement feels like a sacred act.
