Introducing our Women of Sensual Seed conversation this month with Melissa Jeffcott.  Melissa is a Certified Life Coach & Workshop Facilitator with a passion for helping mum’s rediscover and connect with the things that give them purpose and joy as their children get older.

Where do you live and what do you love about living there?

I live in Bayside Melbourne. I love living here because I am so close to the beach. Even just seeing the water from my car as I am ferrying my kids around gives me a sense of peace and calm.

How do you start your day?

I have recently made the conscious decision to change my morning routine, as it wasn’t feeling very energising. I wake up, drink a glass of water, spritz my face with rosewater, then step outside to welcome in the day. A few moments of gratitude for the air, the trees, and the birds, before I stretch and get on with the business of getting my 3 kids to school! I have also swapped my morning coffee for a green smoothie and feel a lot better for it.

Your favourite season?

My favourite season would be Autumn (quite apt as I am loving being in the Autumn of my life). I love the mix of warm days and cooler nights in Melbourne, the leaves changing colour, and the fact that I start to socialise less and create more.

One thing that might surprise people about you

I love to dance and I always have. I was an avid nightclub dancer in my younger years, and in the last couple of years I have been doing a dance class where we learn a choreographed routine, and perform it on stage in front of family and friends. Totally out of my comfort zone, however I have absolutely loved being able to channel my inner Beyonce in my mid forties!

What is your favourite Sensual Seed card, and why?

My favourite Sensual Seed card changes, however the one I have stuck on my vision board is Authentic. Being true to myself, and accepting myself just the way I am without worrying about what others think, has been a gift to myself from getting older and wiser.

What is one defining moment in your life?

Not long after I had turned 40, I was at a bit of a crossroads in my life. My youngest had started school, and I didn’t necessarily want to go back to my old career.  A friend invited me to a weekend workshop called Big Hearted Business, and even though I felt like I didn’t really belong there, I trusted my intuition and went along. I discovered this whole world of amazing women doing incredible and interesting things and making a difference in the world around us. This weekend led me to start a blog called ’The Other Side of Forty’ which in turn led me to studying life coaching and completely changing the way I live my life.

What is sacred to you?

One thing that is sacred to me is sitting in circle with women. I discovered women’s circles a few years ago, and loved the connection and the sacred space of sitting with like minded women.  As there was nothing like that in my area, I started the Bayside Women’s Circle, and nothing gives me more joy than holding space for women to come together and feel heard, supported and connected. It really is so powerful, and I love using sacred tools such as oracle cards to help women set intentions for how they want to feel and live their lives.
